Project

dança em foco – International Festival of Vídeo and Dance is a project fully dedicated to disseminating, experimenting, creating and producing different possibilities in this relationship between video and dance. It was founded in 2003 in Rio de Janeiro as the 1st Brazilian event focused on this theme/subject/area/field.

Our central axis is the International Videodance Selection (MIV) one of the world’s most important dance platforms conceived for the screen, where we have presented over 2000 videos from numerous places and of many different styles. Its schedule includes performances, installations, exhibitions, multimedia shows, residencies, workshops, short-term courses, lectures and debates.

We have put together publications with essays on articulations between contemporary dance and new technologies by the most respectableand influential thinkers of our time. The first four books, trilingual, are considered international references for artists and researchers. In 2012, our most recent publication – the book “EnsaiosContemporâneos de Videodança” (“Contemporary Essays on Videodance”) – gathers 14 essays on the theme.

Besides having been to many Brazilian capitals with itinerant exhibitions,we constantly showour selections in partner festivals, be it nationally or worldwide.

In addition to the foregoing, we also take part in the Latin American Videodance Forum and Idill– international dance online short film festival.

We are celebrating 10 years in 2012

Welcome all!
